Update on OW People's Market

Cymraeg

This is your chance to keep up to date with the plans and latest developments with OW People's Market.

On 3 July, you can call in to the Guildhall anytime between 3:30pm and 7pm to find out where the project is up to, and speak to constructors, project staff and staff from Oriel Wrecsam.

A meeting was also recently held for representatives across the arts and markets sector and branding company Elfen.

People came along to discuss the project and have decided that a new name would be required for the £4.5 million town centre facility.

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety, who attended the event, said: 'The workshop was a hive of activity and produced both interesting and unusual suggestions for names. We are grateful for the enthusiasm and commitment for our partners and I look forward to receiving the recommendations from Elfen and to announcing the final name for this new facility for the arts and market sector in Wrexham.'

The £4.5 million development is due to be completed in 2018 and is supported by funding from the Arts Council for Wales, the Welsh Government's Vibrant and viable Places and Wrexham Council.

Throughout the works, members of the public are reminded that the businesses within the South Arcade are open as usual. Updates on the project can also be found on the new noticeboard within Cafe in the Corner in the South Arcade.
